The package will compile but give an error for missing the vala package. Footprint mismatch missing vala. It's listed as an optional depend.

I can't replicate the error around vala. Can you post a build log please?

However, there has been a problem with the footprint due to the kde repo, I fixed that one.

If I uninstall vala and appstream. Then recompile appstream without vala on my system the footprint mismatch happens.

Is this from after the update? Because it had vala in that even though it is optional, which was an mistake. The footprint was cleaned in 748badb4f4
